Meet the Salon Manager - Christine Peterson

​

Christine decided to take her retail experience to the world of animal care. In 2015, she took over as Store Manager of the Petvalu in Lyndhurst. 

​

While at Petvalu, Christine fostered many relationships with both pets and owners alike. Both became an extended family of sorts. There was always an animal in the store! Many animals started out as puppies and kittens at Petvalu, destined to be adopted out by one of the rescues that Petvalu had partnered with over the years. Together with the rescue partners, there were hundreds of animals who found their homes through her store’s events. 

At the end of 2020, Petvalu closed its doors for good. After some brainstorming, Christine, along with her groomer, Nicole, joined forces with the girls at Prefurred Veterinary to form Prefurred Grooming in Lyndhurst, New Jersey.

Christine currently runs the day-to-day operations of the shop, while helping Nicole with grooming in the back. She is taking classes to learn grooming, and mentoring with Nicole so she can add Groomer to her role at Prefurred Grooming.

Meet the Groomer - Nicole Mogerman

​

Nicole has volunteered her time and skills to help various rescues in New Jersey, grooming dogs for adoption. After graduation, Nicole worked in grooming and doggy day care, while continuing her grooming education, taking classes and seminars. She is certified in 1st aid and CPR and is American Kennel Club certified. She has continued her education in Skin & Coat heath and is also a member of the National Dog Grooming Association. 

​

In 2018, Nicole started working as the head groomer for Petvalu, in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. While at Petvalu, Nicole gained a strong following because of her innate ability to put an anxious dog at ease and show a timid dog that a groom did not have to be a bad experience! She became known locally for being the person to go to when your pup had a bad grooming experience elsewhere. Her patience, and quiet perseverance has turned around so many dogs who were uncomfortable with grooming. Instead of shy and fearful, they are now excited to see her!

In 2020, Petvalu closed, and Nicole along with her manager Christine, teamed up with the girls at Prefurred Veterinary to open Prefurred Grooming, in Lyndhurst, New Jersey! It has been an extremely exciting time for Nicole, as she gets to continue to work with regular and new customers to continue to calmly and adorably take care of Lyndhurst’s dogs and kitties.

Meet the Vet - Cindy Copeland, DVM

​

Dr. Cynthia Copeland has over 15 years experience in the field of Veterinary Medicine and has been a Doctor at a small animal practice for 6 years. As one of the doctors at the hospital, Dr. Cindy Copeland’s eagerness to learn and exceed in a general practice led to amazing surgical skills, mentoring, and becoming the lead Veterinarian in the practice. Dr. Copeland then became the Chief of Staff of the hospital where she was able to treat patients and mentor new and existing doctors at a three doctor practice.

Dr. Cindy Copeland received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University, Grenada, West Indies, with her clinical year at University of Florida. Her undergraduate degree was from The Ohio State University. She graduated from St. George’s in 2011 with Honors and was chosen a member of Phi Zeta (Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine). Dr. Copeland has a license in both New Jersey and New York. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, preventative care, and dermatology.
